artist spotlight - Lexa Gates
Lexa Gates is a 23-year-old Queens native whose music blends R&B and rap, drawing comparisons to artists like Noname, Earl Sweatshirt, and Amy Winehouse. Her ability to evoke a range of emotions through introspective lyricism and heartfelt storytelling has resonated with fans, especially with her viral 2023 hit "Angel." Gates is celebrating the release of her debut album Elite Vessel and embarking on her first North American headline tour. |
elite vessel
Lexa Gates just dropped her debut album Elite Vessel, and it’s something special. This project feels like a personal reflection, with Lexa diving deep into her life’s journey, touching on themes like self-discovery and resilience.
When you listen to tracks like “Alone” or the fan-favorite “Stacy’s Chips,” you really get a sense of her raw storytelling and the emotional weight behind her words. Plus, the collaborations with Alé Araya and Zelooperz add another layer of depth to the album.
With singles like “I Just Can’t Be Alone” and “Provider” already gaining attention, it's clear Lexa is carving out her own lane in the industry. As she gears up for her first-ever North American tour, starting in Chicago, it’s safe to say Lexa is just getting started - there’s so much more to come from her.
art installation
Last week, Lexa Gates unveiled an innovative public art installation to celebrate the release of Elite Vessel. The installation, which took place inside a transparent box, allowed fans to witness Lexa as she spent 10 hours listening to her album on repeat, symbolizing her intimate connection with the music. She spent those 10 hours with no food, water, phone, or bathroom access.
Visitors were invited to join her in this immersive experience by listening through shared headphones and leaving personal messages in a "mailbox" dedicated to Lexa. The installation offered a raw and personal glimpse into the creative world of one of music's rising talents, merging art and sound in a way that felt both vulnerable and captivating.
This installation gained tens of millions of impressions across social media.
